Used to treat insomnia symptoms. A normal dose may lessen anxiety, induce relaxation and sleepiness. A higher dose has similar effects to alcohol, behaviour may be exaggerated and judgement impaired, a false sense of confidence. Withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, sleeplessness, panic attacks, loss of appetite, nausea, tremors and sometimes even hallucinations.
