Interior Monologues

A group show at Oriel y Bont with many layers to it. Contributing artists responded to an artwork in the Art Collection of the University of South Wales. They also needed to provide at least 4 pages of artwork for an A5 zine to go with the show. Creative writers were assigned to each artist and wrote something in response to both the new and old work. At the exhibition opening each writer read their piece of writing. Hearing Maria Lalic read the text she wrote in response to my work and our conversations via email was a highlight for me.

I will be one of 11 artists presenting their final MA show at K Bloc this September. Issues engaged with include loss, healing, privacy in the information age, social class and taste.

Fringe Arts Bath

I visited Bath on Sunday on the last day of Fringe Arts Bath. LOL = Lexicon of Lust was just one of many exhibitions and I particularly enjoyed Biography in Cloth, and #getoutofyourcar at FAB@Milsom Place.

'The greatest dilemma of all time' - now open

The exhibition is now open at Art in the Attic and will be shown until June 15th.
These photos give you a sense of the space and the work but without the sound. The long wall-based work is accompanied by a sound work of a voice reciting the 320 paint colour names on a loop.

Introduction text:
THE GREATEST DILEMMA OF ALL TIME

Mererid Velios’s exhibition is a playful, quietly subversive exploration of the designer paint colour chart and what paint companies’ marketing strategies reveals about our society today.

LoL = Lexicon of Lust

One of my works, 'Whites colour chart', was accepted into this exhibition for Fringe arts Bath, opening this Friday evening. Since the work has proved popular I decided to make a limited edition of 11.

The greatest dilemma of all time

Following my MA show at the West Wharf Gallery I will be showing more of my MA work at Art in the Attic. This will include the installation from the West Wharf Gallery but presented slightly differently to accommodate the space, as well as other supporting work.

I will leave a comments book in the exhibition, so if you have time to visit please let me know what you think!

NN Contemporary Arts - opening

On Friday 12th January I travelled to Northampton for the private view of the Northampton Arts Open show. It was really exciting to see my work 'Whites Colour Card' in the context of a group show and it was a well attended evening and had a lovely welcoming atmosphere.
